Legally Blind or Total & Permanent Disability Exemption

Disability Exemptions of $5,000 are available to Florida residents who are legally blind or totally and permanently disabled.

Blind Exemption Details

How to Apply:

Apply using the Online Exemption Filing Application.  You may also apply in person or by mail / fax / email.


Eligibility:

The applicant must:

1) be a FL resident

2) be blind - OR - totally and permanently disabled


Documentation:

1) Physician's or Optometrist's Certification of Total and Permanent Disability (DR-416 or DR-416B) - OR -

2) Proof of Total and Permanent disability from the US Department of Veterans Affairs - OR -

3) Proof of Total and Permanent disability from the Social Security Administration (must state total and permanent)


How to Renew:

If approved, this exemption will renew automatically every year as long as the  use of the property and/or the ownership status does not change.
